Arrive and settle into The Roundhouse with a nourishing drink and Forest Bakery pastries.

Spend the morning with Lucie founder of Bath Culture House and cookery tutor Lydia Downey, both fermentation enthusiasts.

Learn how to make a seasonal Kimchi. Discover the steps of how to make this fermented Korean dish (ours will be plant based as we do not use fish sauce), from preparing the vegetables, salting, making a paste and fermenting . We will also make stuffed Kimchi Tomatoes, this is a short ferment that can be adapted and used with other fruit or vegetables.

This is a hands on and practical workshop. You will have the opportunity to take your Kimchi's home with you after the workshop.

Before you leave you are invited to sample a selection of Bath Culture House cheases, kimchi's, sauerkrauts and GF crackers.

  4. We need a minimum number of 6 attendees to run this event. In the event of cancelling a full refund will be given.

Frequently asked product questions:

What shelf-life are your ferments when they arrive with me?

It varies: kombucha, kimchi and sauerkraut – 2 months.
Cashew or almond soft cultured cheases – at least 8 days. The cheases are free from preservatives. As a result, the product is fresh and natural, meaning the shelf-life isn't as long as dairy cheese or other vegan cheeses (that may contain filler ingredients, stabilisers or lots of coconut).

Are all your products vegan and gluten-free?

Yes. We are a vegan company and don't use any non-vegan ingredients. We produce our products in a kitchen that does not handle any gluten.

Do I need to store your products in my fridge?

Yes. Of course, take them out for half an hour (no more) for a meal / buffet, but always store in the fridge. This helps our products retain their freshness & health benefits, but also ensures the fermentation process doesn't go too far (cue exploding bottle of kombucha), so it can be dangerous to leave our products in ambient conditions for too long.

Can I freeze your cheases?

Yes, you can. They can be frozen for up to 3 months, after which point you should defrost them slowly in the fridge overnight. All our cheases freeze excellently, so you could buy a few in a bundle and keep a few back in the freezer for another week.

What materials will you pack my order in?

Wherever possible we avoid using plastic. Our cheases are packed in greaseproof paper, to keep the product inside fresh, before being packed inside a cardboard soup-style pot. Our vegetable ferments and kombucha are packed in sterilised British glass, with an aluminium lid and plastic-free labels. We reuse cardboard boxes to make deliveries wherever possible. Please recycle our packaging when you have finished munching/sipping on your purchase! You will certainly be able to reuse the ice packs we enclose within your online packed order. Any deliveries made in the summer will have extra ice packs inserted, to keep your order fresh.

I want to purchase as a gift, what can you do for me?

We don't offer gift wrap, but can insert a message of your choice - please enter this at the checkout within the notes section (at the stage you type in the delivery address). We have some great gift/selection pack options which you may like to choose from. Please ensure you order well in advance of said celebration day, as we can't necessarily dispatch your order as quickly as you may like - read more here. We'd also strongly recommend you add the recipient's mobile phone number to the order so they are informed when the parcel will be arriving, and/or any particular 'safe-place' the driver can leave their parcel if they're not in.
